These are the terms for using Small Habits. By signing up, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the service.
Small Habits is a service that texts you about habits you've chosen to keep, and counts your streaks based on your replies. The whole product runs over SMS, with a small web account page for managing your habits and seeing your ledger.
The service is described in more detail in our SMS terms and on smallhabits.com.
To use Small Habits, you sign up with a US mobile phone number and an email address. We verify the phone number with a one-time code. There is no password — you sign in with your phone and an emailed magic link.
You agree that:
You are responsible for what happens on your account.
By signing up, you consent to receive recurring text messages from Small Habits about the habits you've chosen, at the times you've chosen, plus the occasional milestone, ledger, or account notice. Full details are in our SMS terms. You can reply STOP at any time.
Message and data rates may apply. We don't charge you for the messages themselves, but your carrier may.
If Small Habits offers a paid plan and you choose one, the price, billing cadence, and refund terms will be shown at checkout and are part of these terms. You can cancel a paid plan at any time from your account page. Cancelling stops future charges; we don't refund partial months unless required by law.
Don't:
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these rules.
The Small Habits service, including its software, design, and written content, belongs to us. You may use it for its intended purpose but not copy or redistribute it.
The habits, replies, and notes you give us belong to you. You grant us a limited license to use them solely to provide the service to you.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee that every message will be delivered on time — that depends on carrier networks we don't control.
To the extent permitted by law, Small Habits is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.
You can stop using Small Habits at any time by replying STOP and deleting your account. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, that we believe pose a risk to the service, or as required by law. On termination, the sections that should reasonably survive (disclaimers, liability, governing law) survive.
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top is the effective date. For material changes, we'll email you and, if appropriate, send a one-time text. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of [state/country], without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of [venue], unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
